My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Orson!

Orson entered East Valley LA Shelter as a stray and wasn't claimed. On September 16th, we scooped him up to become a Frosted Face. He is 11 years old and weighs 68 lbs. Orson is sweet, gentle, and leans in for pets and cuddles.

Orson is a great walking and hiking buddy! He walks at a steady pace with a loose leash. Now and then, he breaks into a little trot, and it's super cute! Orson went on a Frosted Field Trip with a volunteer to Solvang and Pismo Beach. He earned a rave review for being a wonderful travel companion.

Orson lives in a Foster home through the Molly & Me Project (more information below) and we received a great update from him (and his foster mom):

"Hi, it's me Orson! Here's what I have been up to in my Foster home and other things to know about me:

1. I will be your lifelong friend and companion, and will only have eyes for my owner. I can be your work buddy, workout buddy, cooking buddy or whatever you want. Whatever you do and wherever you are, I want to be there with you.

2. I like to nest and be comfy. My preference is to be with my person, but if I am not, I will move my bed, my blankets, the bath mat, the door mat, and anything else cozy I can find to lay in front of the door and wait for my person to come back. If I am cold, I will move my things in front of the space heater to warm up. If my person leaves something that I can reach, I will cuddle with that too.

3. I have not had one single issue being left alone in the house. My fling mom has not crated me one single time. I do NOT have accidents.

4. I have not barked in the house or yard one single time!

5. I've had a couple of fun outings at a winery and pizza place with my fling mom. The only time I barked was when some people had their dog on a long leash and he kept invading my personal space when they were not supervising. My fling mom and I just moved to a different table and that solved that!

6. I love the pet store!

7. I like to make new human friends. I like all people. I am a little unsure about other dogs. Sometimes I am fine passing them on leash and sometimes I get a bit excited by them depending on their energy. With a strong people leader directing me and telling me it's ok, I am fine.

8. I love to be outside, I love to walk. I love to go for car rides. Sometimes I can be a little stubborn and not want to leave the warm and sunny park. But my fling mom says we can't all be perfect! Bring a little chicken or a yummy treat to coax me, or go when we can have leisurely time and not have to rush. Otherwise I am a great walking companion and good on my leash!

9. I still have not gone up the stairs.

10. I love to cuddle and lean in for snuggles.

Take a chance on me! I have lots of love to give! Until then, my foster mom will make sure I am looked after as much as she can. Your Friend, Orson"

Orson is so deserving of a wonderful forever home where he will be loved and pampered for the rest of his life!

THE MOLLY & ME PROJECT WAS MADE FOR DOGS LIKE ORSON!
**********************
There are senior dogs left behind by their owners that are poorly socialized with other animals, but are incredibly loyal companions to humans and likely have been for many years.
Molly and dogs like her are difficult to place and often find themselves in long term isolated kennel boarding or facing euthanasia. The Molly & Me Project was implemented to recruit people that have no other animals who can carry out our mission of family to love dogs like Molly who need to be an only pet long term.

REQUIREMENTS
-No other animals of any kind in the household
-Submit weekly photos
-Live an enriching life and include the Frosted Face
-Demonstrate ability to avoid scenarios of negligence that would put the Frosted Face or other animals at risk

INCENTIVES
-$200.00/month for a term of 12 months
-We pay for veterinary expenses
-Donated food and supplies
