My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Zeuster, a gentle soul with a heart full of love. He's just a little shy. His journey has been a winding road, filled with challenges, but he's ready to find a special person who will offer him the patience and understanding he needs. At first, this sweet dog may seem a bit reserved, taking his time to warm up to new environments and people, Zeuster thrives in calm settings where he can settle in at his own pace. He is a true homebody at heart, and once he feels safe and secure, his easygoing nature shines through. He absolutely adores being close to his people and is happiest when surrounded by those who give him the space to blossom.

He does have his quirks-like preferring to enjoy his meals in peace and taking things slowly when meeting new doggy friends. Zeuster shows interest in some dogs, but he's a fan of slow introductions to ensure everyone is comfortable. Zeuster has been through quite a lot, and just needs someone who can offer him the patience and gentle care he needs to thrive. With time, love, and a little affection Zeuster will reward you with unwavering loyalty and a bond that grows stronger each day.

More about this shelter

The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.

To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.

There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.

We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
