My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lucille is looking for their forever home!

WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS: Lucille's story is one of resilience and second chances. Found as a stray on the streets of Baltimore, this sweet senior is estimated to be 14 years old. While we can only imagine the challenges she's faced, Lucille has embraced her new life with an open heart. Now, she's thriving in her foster home, showering everyone with love and enjoying the simple pleasures of being safe and cared for.

Lucille adores children-nothing lights her up quite like their company. Despite her age, she still has a good amount of energy and loves her daily walks. She's friendly and gentle with everyone she meets, recently charming some family friends during a visit. Over time, Lucille has truly come out of her shell, getting excited when her foster mom comes home from work and even becoming more playful while still being perfectly content to chill on the couch or snuggle up in her bed.

Potty training has been a breeze for Lucille-no accidents so far! She's adjusting well to her foster's work schedule and is doing great with her training, especially working on leash reactivity. Though she can be fearful and reactive toward other dogs while on leash, off-leash she's had successful meet-ups with other pups. With patience and continued training, her leash manners are improving, and her walks are becoming more and more enjoyable.

Lucille's foster family lovingly refers to her as "the world's easiest houseguest. She's a relaxed, low-maintenance girl who's simply happy to be loved. If you're looking for a gentle, loving companion with a heart full of gratitude, Lucille is your girl. Despite her past, she has nothing but love to give and is ready to spend her golden years in a forever home where she can continue to blossom.

More about this rescue

Laila's Legacy missions is to ensure every homeless dog - including those with behavioral or physical challenges - that comes through our doors has a chance at a better life while educating the public on breed bias, individualistic training, and the importance of spay-neuter to lower the impact of returned and abandoned animals in shelters.
