My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Blizzard, a charming, young adult, shepherd mix with a heart as pure as freshly fallen snow. This young pup is eager to find his forever home and share his boundless love and loyalty with a lucky family.

Blizzard is the epitome of a good boy! He`s mastered crate training and at night, he even settles down in his crate with the door open. However, as typical shepherds do, he may get a bit mischievous if left bored, so plenty of toys and mentally stimulating activities are a must to keep him entertained.

On walks, Blizzard is a dream companion, walking nicely on leash unless a squirrel or rabbit catches his eye - then his curiosity may lead to a bit of pulling. He`s a social butterfly, always eager to greet other dogs with a wagging tail and a friendly demeanor. While he may be a tad shy initially with new people, once he warms up, his affectionate nature shines through!

Blizzard isn`t one to bark excessively; he prefers to express himself through playful antics and the occasional wag of his tail. While he may not be highly food motivated, he craves human attention and relishes playtime, whether it`s with a favorite toy or exploring the great outdoors.

Being a shepherd, Blizzard got a little unlucky with his hips, but he`s doing well with conservative management. With the right care and love, Blizzard is ready for his next adventure with a family who will cherish him as much as he`ll cherish them!

More about this rescue

We are in need of Foster Homes for our homeless animals!!! Can you help?

What is a Foster Home?
A foster home takes in one of our homeless animals rather than boarding them at the kennel and cares for it until we find a permanent loving home. Almost Home Foundation pays for the all animal's food and medical expenses. The foster home learns the animal's temperament and behaviors. The foster home learns if they get along with other animals. The foster home provides insights on the animals that helps Almost Home Foundation look for the right home for the animal.

Please help!! Just fill out this form and we will contact you or call 630-582-3738 and leave a message letting us know that you are interested in fostering!

We are an all-volunteer, registered, not-for-profit 501c3 animal rescue group. Our mission is to save adoptable dogs and cats from being destroyed by finding permanent, loving homes. For details, visit us online at www.almosthomefoundation.org.

Almost Home Foundation is always looking for volunteers to handle dogs at adoption shows, set up adoption shows, write for the newsletter, photograph events, or foster animals. For a list of opportunities, visit online at www.volunteermatch.org
or www.almosthomefoundation.org.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are a Rescue not a Shelter. This simply means we do not own a building where we house animals. We look for loving foster homes that will give temporary care and love on the animal’s journey to a permanent, loving home. When a foster home is not available, we will board the animal at a boarding kennel.

Our 5-year goal is to have a shelter. This is an aggressive goal that will take many donations and memberships. We will strive for this goal with a great team of volunteers and help from people like you! Please become a member, become a sponsor or make a donation.

Our animals are found strayed and brought in from the police. After being held for 7 days, we evaluate the temperament of the animal and determine if the animal is suitable to be a pet. On rare occasion, we will also rescue animals that are in desperate situations where the rescue makes the difference between life and death. We do not accept Owner Give-ups.
