Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Well hello there! My name is Cassie and I am an 8 year old Shihtzu who is 9.5 pounds. Aren't I adorable?! Everyone says I am so cute and I wholeheartedly agree!
I am here because the kind people at NBS are helping me find a new home. You see, I had lived with my Mom my whole life. My Mom took such good care of me and loved me oh-so-much. But my Mom started to have medical issues and needed to go into a nursing home where I was not allowed to stay with her. She has a very wonderful son who took me in and was committed to find me the very best home so he called our friends at NBS. And now here we are!
Let me tell you a little bit about me. I am 8 going on 9 years old. I don't know if I am a pure-bred shihtzu, but who cares about that really? As an older lady, I would prefer the quieter, cozier lifestyle. I love to snuggle and sit with my people. I will just stare in awe at my loving owners or snooze the day leaned up against you. I don't play much and don't need a ton of exercise. I don't have any known medical issues. I just need a family that will love and cherish me for the rest of my sweet life.
My Mom wasn't able to get me outside all the time so I do use potty pads but I will also go outside with gentle reminders. I am used to potty pads but maybe could be taught to be fully outside potty trained. Maybe?
I do get along with other dogs but I PREFER to be the only dog getting all the love and affection. I don't mind if others visit. Just can I have all the love please? I am fine around cats but have not been around any other animals.
My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?
These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Prefers to be the only dog, fine with cats
- Family who is gone no longer than 5-hour periods to help re-teach potty training
- Prefer a low-key more relaxed home
- Does not require a fenced-in yard and can be leash-walked for potty breaks
If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:
1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….
2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.
3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.
My adoption fee is $150.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!
Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.
While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
