My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Jack was brought in by a community member.

At SDHS:
Jack has been vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. He is now ready for his new home!

Why Jack might be the one for you:
Say hi to Jack! This bashful boy is looking for a family who can continue to show him what it means to be loved. When he first entered our care, he was fearful and unsure of humans. But he has made so much progress with his friends at the shelter! Our team has been helping him build his confidence, and although he can still be shy with new faces, he is quick to warm up with a little patience and some tasty treats. He enjoys playing with his canine companions and spending time with his caretakers in the play yard. Jack is still learning how to walk on leash, so access to a fenced yard is important for his new home. It may take a few minutes for you to earn Jack's trust, but seeing him open up and show his goofy side is worth the wait! If you'd like to learn more about this sweet boy, give us a call!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
