Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Maia is a 2-3 year old Belgian Malinois who was saved from the now defunct Malinois Ranch Rescue. She finished her last round of HW treatment and is ready for a forever home. Maia is very sweet and loveable. She bonds very quickly with her people. She crates nicely and is quiet once crated. She is housebroken. Maia has excellent recall & knows some basic commands. She has no working drive so she would do best in an active pet home. She has plenty of energy & would make an excellent hiking or jogging partner.
Maia does have some quirks and needs an adopter who can work with her. Malinois or similar breed experience would be a huge plus. No small children. Maia is very sensitive to being touched on her back end due to a congenital fused coccyx. This condition is being managed with pain medication but she is still quite sensitive to being touched there. She would not tolerate small children pulling on her tail or messing with her hind end so we do not recommend homes with small kids. Maia is also very sensitive about having her feet touched. Her foster believes this is something that can be worked through with a trusted owner.
Maia has undergone heartworm treatment & will be finished with crate rest on January 21st. Once this is completed Maia would prefer a fenced yard to run around in.
Maia is fine with other dogs. She ignores the fence fighting dogs next door & ignores the horses next door as well. She has not been tested with cats. Anyone interested in meeting Maia is welcome to come see her at her foster home in La Vernia, TX.
