Nia is thriving with her foster family! She was, originally, abandoned at an apartment complex when she was around 8 weeks old, and she took up with another abandoned dog-a senior pit bull.
We were contacted when she was around 8 months old. Her friend had been killed, and the people living there were scared for her. Nia is now a little over a year old. She's definitely a medium sized girl, at 30-35 lbs.
She LOVES dogs and loves to play. She is more confident with other dogs around. She's also very sweet and not at all aggressive with people, but would do best in an adult only home because she was so under-socialized as a baby and is a flight risk if she were to get spooked or went outside without a leash. She bonds with people strongly if they take it slow and are patient.
We've been working on her getting used to a leash, and she's doing great, but it would be best if her new foster had a fenced in yard for now. She will still get spooked by loud noises like sirens and needs to establish a relationship with you before she feels comfortable on leash. Because of this, she is not yet housebroken, but she uses pee pads fairly well. She does crate really well and will not have accidents in her crate. She is vocal when she's happy and excited. She is extremely playful and loves toys of all sorts.
Please email me at lmckelvey@pawsatlanta.org if you have any questions or are interested in fostering or adopting her!
