My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Cali (solid tabby), I am very shy at first but once I get to know you, I am very affectionate. I am the only princess of the family and am bonded to my brother Joey, we are inseparable. We have a night/morning ritual and I thrive off of routine. Where there is one you will always find the other. I am a natural hunter and I like to chase feet, play with toy springs and stuffed mice. When my favourite humans come near me I greet them with my purr, I’m just happy to be near them. Like my brothers I counter surf, I’m very smart, a fast learner but I love heights and you’ll often find me sleeping on the highest surface. I am being raised with two goldens, two older kittens, and my two brothers Joey and Socks.

Hi, my name is Joey (tabby & white), I am very shy and take my time getting to know new humans. When I arrived at my foster home I would always run away from attention, but now I sit still and allow them to pamper me with affection. I am bonded with my sister Cali, she is the one that showed me that touch was safe. I am spunky and love to sprint around and play, my favourite game is to chase my brother and sister up and down the hallways. I need a companion who doesn’t mind my company, I will leave toys at your feet in hopes you will throw them for me. My favourite human works from home so I get a lot of attention and play. I love my scratching post and I’ve never clawed at the furniture.

Cali and Joey are available for adoption through Grand River All Breed Rescue. The adoption donation is $325 per cat. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out an application. Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Grand River All Breed Rescue's adoption process involves an adoption application, reference checks, and discussion about the potential adoptive home, including a home visit. We follow this process as we do have a responsibility to ensure that we place each pet in a home that is suitable and committed to caring for the pet for the rest of its' life.

We match our rescues to their new homes, and filling out an adoption application, or proceeding with our adoption process does not guarantee the acceptance of an adoption application. We reserve the right to refuse an applicant for any reason, at our discretion.

Please note that once we begin an application, we hope to have it completed within a couple days, based upon availability, particularly of your references. We are just as excited to find our pets their forever home as you are to adopt!

All GRAB animal require an adoption donation. Our adoption donations help us to pay for the many costs associated with rescuing animals, including veterinary bills, food, litter and other pet supplies, and administrative costs. The majority of our animals are adopted out for less than what it cost us to rescue them, and we do not make money on our pets. All adoption donations go directly back into our account which allows us to continue rescuing animals.

Currently our adoption donation for dogs is $450 and for cats is $325. Rabbits are adopted out for $80 and are spayed or neutered. Please ask us about adoption fees for other small pets, including guinea pigs, degus, etc.

For dogs and cats, our adoption donation includes a veterinary exam, vaccines, deworming and flea treatment (if needed), spay or neuter and microchip.

Go meet their pets

Our pets are all located in foster homes and an application must be approved in order to meet one of our pets.

More about this rescue

As a non-profit animal rescue group our focus is:

To adopt dogs, cats and other companion animals into suitable homes.

To ensure that all dogs and cats placed by our rescue are spayed and neutered to ensure that we are not contributing to the pet overpopulation problem.

To promote responsible and healthy pet care, including humane training techniques and healthy diets.
to rescue animals from over-crowded shelters and the streets.

Our members are understanding and caring people who are pet owners and caregivers. They understand the care and attention that pets require but also how fulfilling (if occasionally challenging) a life with pets can be. We're not here just for the animals, but for their owners as well!
