Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bear is a wonderful little 7-8 year old Shih-Tzu that was surrendered to us when his owner could no longer take care of him. This is the second time Bear has been rehomed due to the death or illness of an owner so we want him to find his forever home.
Bear does like people and he will hang out with his family, getting up in a lap once he is familiar with the person. He also likes playing with his toys.
Bear does not like other dogs. He will growl at other dogs in the home and will actually try to bite if they get close. So Bear really should be the only dog. He would really enjoy spending his day hanging around in a quiet home.
He will stay in a crate at night and when he is home alone. He appears to be housebroken
Bear is overweight and really needs an active person who is physically able to walk him several times a day. He will need someone willing to work on his weight loss. He shouldn't be with someone who will feel sorry for him and give him lots of treats. We really want him to get down to a good size since that is much more healthy for him. Bear is only about 7 years old and could have a life span of another 9-10 years. We do NOT want him to be re-homed due to an owner having medical issues or going into assisted living so please consider this when applying for him. If it not likely that you will be able to walk and care for a dog for another 9-10 years then possibly consider an older dog.
If you are interested in Bear, our application can be found at www.homesfurhounds.org.
