My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

From the Addams family to a furever family!

Oh, hello darling. I’m Morticia. Although my name implies that I’m creepy and kooky, I’m anything but! I’m wickedly charming and lovable. I’m 6-years-old, 53-pounds, and my breed is a mystery (but I look a bit like a Rottweiler mix). I was recently rescued from the horrific conditions (even by Addams’ family standards) of ESLR in Ensenada. I’m over the moon about this second chance and hope to spend it with you!

I’m a sweet girl who loves her family through and through. I am a bit timid around other dogs and I’m still gaining confidence. However, I am a friendly girl and hope I’ll make more friends in the future. As a loyal canine, I’m not a fan of felines. I have met a few kids, and since I’m such a gentle momma, we got along well.

My ideal day used to be spent cuddling on the couch with Wednesday and Pugsley. I get some pep in my step on walks and can go long distances, but I’m also happy lounging on the couch for an Addams Family marathon with my favorite people. But as I have gotten more comfy at home, I have become more playful and active! I have been playing with toys and getting lots of zoomies, and loving long walks and hikes.

I’m an intelligent lady and I do well in the house and on the leash. I am crate-trained, although it takes a little coaxing for me to get in and I am bathroom trained. I get adorable wiggles when it’s time to eat and like to give a “thank you” snuggle before I start eating. The original Morticia may be a bit spooky, but it’s clear I’m a big love bug.

Other than a haunted mansion overlooking a graveyard… my ideal furever home is with any loving person or family! Any home will make me a happy gal! I’m low-maintenance and easy to fall for. I’m no psychic (or maybe I am…) but I see me in your future! Let’s meet and get started on our happily ever after together.

My adoption fee is $250 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
