My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a cat with a heart as soft as his fur? Then Mr. Teddy is the purrfect match for you! This handsome, fluffy boy is a little on the shy side, but once he gets to know you, you`ll be showered with cuddles. Teddy is a former community cat, so he`s still learning what it means to be spoiled in a cozy home, but with a bit of patience and love, he`ll be your best friend for life. Despite being a former community cat, Teddy is a very tidy guy with stellar litter etiquette!

When Teddy is feeling extra happy, he loves making little biscuits on his favorite blanket, your lap (if you`re lucky!), or any other soft surface he can get his paws on. When Teddy`s not busy fulfilling his biscuit orders, you can find him perched by the window, looking for birds and other little critters. He`s a big fan of feathered toys, wand toys, and Churu treats. Mr. Teddy is mostly a quiet observer, but when he wants to play or wants some cuddles he`ll be sure to let you know (usually by very adorably rubbing up his face on you!).

Teddy is FIV+ (not a big deal). FIV is not a big deal and doesn`t stop him from living a full, happy life. He gets along well with his two foster sisters, who are both FIV negative.

Teddy is a bit on the shy side and would do best in a calm, quiet home where he can feel safe and secure. Loud noises or a busy household can be a bit too much for him, so a peaceful environment will help him flourish. Mr. Teddy may be shy at first, but with time, patience, and lots of love, he`ll blossom into the most loving little guy. If you`re looking for a soft, quiet, and adorable kitty who just needs a little extra TLC to feel at home, Teddy is ready to join your family!

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
