Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Doobie has captured the hearts of all the volunteers with his friendly and affectionate nature. He has been on many adventures to pools, ranches, parks, neighborhood strolls, and is always up for a new experience. He’s even helped welcome new volunteers in trainings! Out and about he’s calm and confident with no reactivity to passing dogs/pedestrians/construction etc.

He has also had a few sleepovers and been described as calm, low maintenance, and cuddly, with a *tiny* fear of electric toothbrushes.

Doobie has shown a gentle nature when meeting kids. He has superb home manners, is well-behaved in the car, house-trained, laid-back, and loves all toys.

We think our very good boy would make a wonderful addition to any loving home looking for a sweet and easygoing companion.

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please note, Adoption and Pet Resource Center lines close at 6:00 p.m. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.
