Alfie was adopted a few years ago, and his adopters were told then that he should be an only cat, but after a while they adopted a kitten, and when he responded aggressively to it, they returned him. Alfie’s TC Paw foster knows that he’s the boss. He’s independent and will let you know when he wants affection. He enjoys having his head scratched, and he will often sleep at the base of your bed or lie on your desk as you work. Alfie likes to be included and will even knock on doors and meow if he’s left out of the action. When Alfie feels over-handled, like if you pick him up or pet him the wrong way, he may bite softly. Stay still or make a soft hissing sound, and he’ll let go. He’s very opinionated about how and when he likes to be touched. If you follow his lead, he enjoys your attention immensely, and he’s easy to be with. At the end of the day, Alfie wants to hang around wherever you’re relaxing. He likes being near you. Alfie’s fine with meeting new people too. He enjoys exploring new spaces in the garage (with the doors down) and the basement where he plays on and off throughout the day. Alfie has even learned to open doors with certain types of handles. Basically, he goes where he wants – when he wants. He’s a unique character, very intelligent, and determined to get his way! Alfie would prefer to be “an only child.” He claims his territory and clearly does not like to share it with other animals. In an adult home with an experienced cat person who wants a single pet, Alfie will be a good, entertaining companion.
