Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Moon!
This sweet girl is a 1-year-old female Blue Heeler who's looking for a wonderful forever home. She's spayed, microchipped, housetrained, and is GREAT on a leash! When her foster mom opens the front door to go out with her on a walk, Moon will wait politely until it's time to walk through the door.
Moon is an energetic and playful little pup and will love having active people around her to take her on hikes and adventures. She's obedient and responds to hand signals, and is a smart cookie who knows what you're saying, too. She's extremely good at traveling and loves riding in the car. At the end of her day she loves to snuggle and is very affectionate. She'll happily share a chair or couch with you, and she'll shadow you all over the house.
Her foster mom thinks Moon would be fine for a few hours alone at home with her chew toy and a blanket. A kennel might be a huge trigger for her, but foster mom has never seen the need for it. Moon isn't a big barker --- just occasionally she'll let out a quick "BUFF" if someone's approaching the house.
Moon is GREAT with other dogs and loves every dog she meets! Even if there's a snarky little doggie dude who snaps at her, she'll just stand there and wag at him. She's very sweet and playful. Moon is untested with cats, but didn't have much interest in the kitties roaming around the office at the shelter.
This wonderful dog loves men! She's not been around any kids but her foster mom doesn't see her having any problems with them. When Moon was taken for her spay at the shelter recently, she walked right in with no trepidation. Instead of going, "OH NO NOT THIS PLACE!" she just wagged her tail, walked in and greeted the receptionist like, "Hey! I remember you!" She prefers sleeping in her bed in a place with some privacy, as a way of feeling safe, given her past history in the shelter.
Her foster folks describe Moon's personality as, "Hello, I love you."
Moon will need to be on special dog food, and we'll provide details to serious applicants. She's a very good girl about getting her teeth brushed and (sometimes) getting her nails filed with a file. She LOVES snow, gets the zoomies and dives into it over and over. Also she has a cute heart marking on her back.
She's currently in New Mexico but her foster mom is willing to drive to get her to the right people. If her adopters could assist with transport, that would of course be appreciated.
Moon is a total lovebug who deserves a family and a place to run, forever. She'd absolutely love another friendly dog in the house to play with.
For more info and/or to apply to adopt Moon, send us an email at SummitDogRescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly. Thanks.
