Batman is a 3-year-old black and rust male with cropped ears and a natural tail weighing in at 60 pounds. Batman is an energetic, happy dog. He is always wagging his tail and sometimes chasing it. He loves to run and play in the yard with my dogs, especially my 3-year-old female. They play in the yard and in the house. Batman is very curious as to what I’m doing and where I’m going. He will be laying down relaxing but will jump up ready to go where I’m going. He loves attention and giving kisses, he will just melt while being petted. He walks well on the leash with minimal pulling but is all business on a walk, he charges straight ahead. He rides very nicely in the car, curious about his surroundings while safely anchored in the seat.
He has done well at learning to sit for his meals and treats, he sometimes gets over excited to go outside and forgets to wait at the door. It’s a work in progress and he has done very nicely being food motivated and eager to please. He is crate trained and goes right in when told to “go lock up.” He likes a filled Kong or other tasty treat or toy while in his crate and will settle in nicely until he thinks it’s time to get out and then gets restless wanting to join the family and go play. He does well out of the crate overnight and sleeps on his bed. He doesn’t seem interested in getting on the furniture.
He will run the fence line barking if he sees other dogs and will bark at ones he encounters in public but it’s more that he wants to meet them. He’s probably not cut out for city life and dog parks because of how excited he gets over other dogs. It was challenging for him in a kennel situation also because of how over stimulated he gets. He is totally non-aggressive and has no guarding issues over food or toys with the other dogs. He’s definitely a lover and not a fighter. He is unknown with cats or small children.
Batman is an unusually small male with a big personality and full of fun and love. He makes me smile with his tail wagging and how happy he is just enjoying life while waiting for his forever home. Batman is fostered in Virginia.
DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed.
