My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Barnacle!
This delightfully sweet canine companion has stolen the hearts of everyone he meets. Barnacle, a lovable boy, boasts a charming personality that radiates warmth and friendliness. He currently weighs 64lbs, which makes him the prefect size for an oversized lap dog! Barnacle has a way of melting hearts with just one glance. His gentle demeanor and sweet nature make him a favorite among both humans and dogs alike. Barnacle enjoys most dogs and wouldn`t mind living with one in his forever home if they were a good fit! When he`s not busy exploring the great outdoors or engaging in spirited playdates, Barnacle can be found curled up in a sunbeam, basking in the simple pleasures of life. As for kids we are asking that Barnacle lives with ages 13 years and older.

If Barnacle sounds like he might be a good fit please give us a call at 330-487-0333 ext.226 to schedule a time to come in and meet him!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
