Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Pat!
We just pulled this sweet boy from a high kill shelter in California. We believe he is about a year old. We will update his profile as we take more pictures and learn more about him, but this is what we know so far.
Holy doodle this boy is the total package! If you are looking for an easy husky look no further. He is the perfect starter husky for someone looking to get into the breed. He is such a good pup that we truly can't imagine how anyone could let him go.
As you can see, he gets along really well with other pups and is very tolerant of their antics. We do not know how he would do with smaller dogs (<15 pounds) or cats. He doesn't seem to be too curious when our barn cats are walking around, but we have not tested them with cats and huskies do typically have a high prey drive.
If you can believe it, this boy hasn't made a peep since being on the farm. We require dogs to be fed separately to prevent any issues which should be easy since this boy is already kennel trained.
He has not had any accidents while with us, but as with all new dogs we would keep an extra eye on him while he adjusts to your space and figures out where he needs to relieve himself.
Besides basic obedience, the biggest thing our boy Pat needs to work on is jumping. He loves people and just wants to be with them so does excitedly jump up in greeting. He does seem to have awareness around children though, because he has not once jumped up on our toddler or any of the other children he has met (doesn't mean it won't happen, just what we have noticed).
Our number one priority is keeping dogs in loving homes and not seeing them bounce between places. This is why we will be providing a 5 week training class (through our trainer) with his adoption.
Please do your research on the breed prior to submitting an application. Although huskies are amazing, they are a working breed. They need to be mentally and physically fulfilled. They can be destructive escape artists if they are not being properly cared for. Our boy Pat is a very calm husky, but we still want our adopters to be aware of the typical needs of this breed.
