Here's what the humans have to say about me:
THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED.
Piper is an 8 year old West Highland White Terrier who came to rescue when her owners became seriously ill and could no longer care for her. She lived with multiple other dogs in the home.
While in her foster home, Piper made it quite clear that she prefers being the "queen of her castle" and would thrive as an only dog. She is accepting of other male dogs and will occasionally initiate play, but she is not a fan of rambunctious puppies. Piper does not play with toys, finding all that silliness beneath her. She does however, get very excited to go for walks and loves attention.
Piper has learned to accept sleeping in a crate but she would prefer sleeping in a fluffy dog bed. She's not a big fan of being left alone during the day so she would prefer a home with a retired person. Piper does need to be kept on a potty schedule to insure good house manners.
During her routine vet intake exam, it was discovered that Piper has a severe heart murmur and was put on daily heart medication. She will need to remain on this for the rest of her life. Piper does have a prey drive and enjoys regular yard patrol for squirrels and rabbits.
Adult only home and fenced yard required.
The suggested adoption donation for Piper is a minimum of $350 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. Approved adopters are required to travel to Omaha, NE to pick up their newly adopted dog. We do not arrange transport, or fly our rescue dogs without a "pet nanny". All of our dogs that come from a commercial breeding facility require a securely fenced yard AND a resident companion dog, unless the dog's bio states otherwise. Please note, invisible or underground fencing is not considered secure or appropriate containment. Adoption applications can be found at www.wagntrainterrierrescue.com/adoption-information
