Lani is the sweetest, cuddliest little girl. She has a really goofy personality and loves being around people and following us all around the house. She just loves to be included. We do not have a backyard but she does have a roof top deck that she loves trying to run as fast as she can on. She does try to gently mouth sometimes when she gets to excited but is easy to calm down and is very gentle. She takes treats very gently and is very very amicable to having her feet handled and being picked up. She really has such a gentle demeanor. During the day she is more than happy to lay on her bed and watch tv or play with her stuffies.
She is the perfect in the house doggy. She is very quiet, never barks in the house and does not bark when the door bell rings or someone knocks.
She knows sit, come, shake a paw, target touching, find it, and we are working ok building longer stays and working on down. She learns quickly and is quite a smart girl! She is definitely eager to learn new things!
We have struggled a little with house training, but she does not have any accidents when we are home and she consistently uses pee pads when we need to leave her for longer periods of time. She is happy to rest comfortably in her kennel when we need to do things around the house but does exhibit a lot of kennel anxiety if we leave the home and did break a few teeth on her kennel (dealt with health wise already!) so we halted kennel training for her and we confine her to our living room with baby gates and she does fabulous staying in there. She never gets into anything and has never been destructive in any way when left out in living room/kitchen area for the entire day while we are at work.
She is leash reactive to other dogs. We have been working with a trainer and she is slowly improving. When on walks she pulls a bit initially but once she is less excited she does quickly start to walk nicely. she does however pull and jump excessively when she see other dogs, as said we have been working with a trainer. She would do best in a single dog home or with slow introduction to a high energy dog that meets her play energy. She was in play groups at ACCT, but has not been around other dogs since due to the leash reactivity. She would not be suitable for a home with cats. Due to her high play energy I would recommend a home with older children.
She is honestly a lovely dog and will make a family so happy when she finds the right one. We love her very much but due to changes in needing to travel more, cannot continue to foster her as long as we initially intended. She will be the best friend for the right family!
