Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We were really curious about Harvey's breed mix so we did a DNA test and found out he is 19% Labrador Retriever, 16% Australian Cattle Dog, 14% Golden Retriever, 12% Miniature American Shepherd, 7% Weimaraner and has a small smattering of other breeds. So now we know he is an adorable mutt!
Harvey is approximately 16 months old and weighs 53 lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on his vet care. He loves to go for walks in the woods, take car rides, play with toys (especially stuffies), and run and wrestle with other dogs. He has a ton of energy and does need daily exercise. He is very smart and loves to learn new things. His foster mom has been doing obedience training with him, and he knows Sit, Down, Place, and other commands. She has been taking him for group walks with a local trainer most weekends. He is housebroken and crate-trained. His ideal home would have a fenced yard he could use to run around in and an owner that takes him for walks or runs every day.
Harvey is not good with all children so we think it would be best if he went to a home with no kids. He would thrive with an owner who has owned a dog before and enjoys doing obedience training. He is a sweet dog, and all our volunteers adore him, but he is a work in progress.
If you are interested in adopting a dog, please fill out our dog adoption application here: http://medfieldshelter.com/adopt. Our dog adoption fee is $350. Every dog we place is vaccinated, wormed, treated for ticks/fleas, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash.
With very few exceptions, dogs are happiest and the most well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families who are willing to make a commitment to both.
All adoption meetings are by appointment only, as we only have two employees. Our manager or one of our volunteers will be happy to set up an appointment for you to come meet the pets, but please fill out the adoption application first.
