My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LAYLIA UPDATE!!✨

LOOK AT OUR GIRL NOW— TOTALLY HEALED AND ADOPTION READY!!  â¤ï¸

Laylia was so broken, infected, painful and defeated when she arrived but she’s blossoming in the beautiful girl she truly is on the outside to match what’s on the inside!

Despite the neglect this girl has faced most of her life — she’s still the sweetest most appreciative pup!!

We can’t thank you all enough for your kindness in helping us make a difference in sweet Laylia’s life!

Laylia is a Lab mix of some sort we believe. She is around 6-9 months old and 25 lbs. Laylia is the absolute sweetest dog despite all she’s been through. She’s great with all animals and kids. She’s adjusted to the good life beautifully and is loving it. She’s completed her vetting and is officially adoption ready!! Her coat has come in beautifully but due to the severity of her condition on intake she may have some scaring. Don’t miss out on our miracle girl and get those apps in now!!

THIS IS RESCUE — THANK YOU TO ALL INVOLVED!!

Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.

All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy!

Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $125 is due at pick up.

Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Thank you!

All of our dogs are in foster homes, but we are very easy and flexible to set an appointment up with to meet one of our animals once the adoption application is approved. We also participate regularly at adoption events with other local rescues.

More about this rescue

Wags and Whiskers is a FOSTER based small rescue along the Gulf Coast. We take in dogs from local shelters, strays and from individuals who are in need of help. We can only take in dogs that we have a foster space available for and that space is limited due to the shear number of unwanted dogs in our area. Our primary veterinarian is Dr. David Martin at Parkway Animal Hospital. He oversees all medical treatment. All dogs are current on vaccinations, dewormed, heartworm tested if they are over 6 months of age and are altered before adoption. PARKWAY ANIMAL HOSPITAL DOES NOT HOUSE OUR DOGS ONLY PROVIDE MEDICAL TREATMENT! We have an adoption process that consist of an online application that can be emailed to you, reference check, meet and greet and home visit. Adoptions will not be finalized until all procedures listed have been completed. We do not adopt on a first come first serve basis but to the best home for that particular animal when there are multiple applicants.
