Here's what the humans have to say about me:
To meet Courage, please submit an application at www.thehausofdogs.com/adopt .
Courage came to us from Waco, TX. He was seized by the sherriff's office from his home due to animal abuse and neglect. He was locked in a small cage all his life, which resulted in some growth deformities in his legs. He walks on his paws and forepaws. The vet believes he's also been physically abused, judging from his broken tail.
We brought him to WA and consulted an orthopedic surgeon who says that he doesn't require surgery, nor be on any medication. While he isn't the dog who'll run with you, he is able to walk perfectly fine without pain, albeit slightly slower than the average dog. But this just means you won't have to worry about him walking poorly on leash, or bolting towards squirrels and birds!
His tail has healed but will remain slightly bent. Despite his horrific past, he's the sweetest dog ever! He doesn't shy away from people or affection, has so much love to give, almost like he's been starved of love and yearning to give and receive affection. He is excellent with other dogs big and small, enjoys the companionship of children and is coming into his own. He did extremely well meeting a crowd of people at our adoption event who loved on him.
Courage has seamlessly embraced the routine of sleeping on his cozy dog bed in his foster's bedroom at night, demonstrating his easygoing and well-behaved nature. In the morning, he patiently waits until you're ready to take him outside, showcasing his understanding and cooperative spirit.
Potty training has been a breeze for Courage, as he has had no accidents in the house and has learned to signal when he needs to go out by heading to the door—a sign of his intelligence and eagerness to please.
Recently, Courage has started to embrace his playful side, running around the backyard with enthusiasm. His love for chew toys adds an adorable touch to his playful personality. Despite his newfound activity, Courage remains a medium to low-energy companion, content to be wherever you are and typically found just a few feet away from his humans.
Courage's sweetness shines through as he basks in your attention and companionship. Whether relaxing on his dog bed or riding in the car, he exudes a calm and content demeanor. His love for car rides is a testament to his adaptable and easygoing nature, as he peacefully lounges on his dog bed in the back.
Courage's defining trait is his affectionate nature—he is truly a sweetheart. His happy disposition and readiness to be a devoted companion make him an excellent match for someone seeking a loving and loyal friend. If you're looking for a four-legged companion to share your days with, Courage is ready to bring joy, comfort, and unwavering companionship into your life. Consider opening your home to this wonderful canine companion, and let Courage be the loyal and loving friend you've been waiting for!
