My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mattis is a hunky guy and another pup in the running for best ears at PACC! He was found as a stray and stayed with his finder for several weeks before heading to the shelter. His finder described him as a very sweet boy who will benefit from a bit of love and training. He also did well in a crate while with his finder.

Mattis also spent several weeks in another foster home- he was a quite houseguest, did well on his walks in a busy area of town, and was well- behaved when left alone. Mattis was housebroken (always allow for an adjustment period in a new home) and loves to play with his stuffed toys. Mattis’s foster described him as sweet, loving, affectionate, silly, and goofy.

“Mattis has really grown over the past three weeks and would do so well in a quiet home with lots of love. He is a good, sweet dog.”

Mattis is an active, and energetic boy who loves to run and would make a great hiking or jogging buddy. Here’s what some of his many fans at the shelter have said:

“Today Mattis and I spent time in the agility yard, where he really showed off! He is so friendly and social, and every time he completed a task, he would eagerly look for a treat and then seek out extra pets by sitting against my legs and looking up with a big smile to celebrate.
Mattis did great jumping over the hurdle-he was able to do the lowest and second lowest placements! He also jumped through the hoop easily with encouragement. It was really special to see his excitement and desire for praise. I always love spending time with this social and lovable cuddler.”

“Going back to the kennel is not typically my favorite part a walk with a dog, but today it was the best part of my walk with Mattis. As soon as we got back, he flopped against my feet and rolled onto his back, so we spent some extra time together as I rubbed his belly. He gazed up at me with a big smile and his tongue hanging out of his mouth. I can’t wait for his forever family to finally come take him home! He is such a good boy. Very people oriented, will frequently lean against you and stand by your side at any pauses on the walk. He definitely likes to be close to his humans.”

“Mattis is such a treasure. He reminds me a lot of border collies that I’ve met-he is very alert, enjoys doing tricks for treats, and is focused on his human. He is a really companionable dog who enjoys being close with his people. He is so affectionate, and I wish I could give him more love.”
