My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am finally ready for my forever home! My name is Lily, and I'm a super cute cattle dog/heeler mix. Even though I am only around a year old, I have already been through so much. At the end of last year, I was on the euthanasia list at a way too crowded shelter. Thankfully, a kind TSDP volunteer offered to foster me.

I was hit by a car in my pre-shelter days, so I had to have my tail amputated. But I'm a young, sweet, spunky puppy, so I recovered from my surgery in no time. Who needs a tail anyway? I don't need a tail to go for walks or play or snuggle - all things I can't wait to do in my forever home! I'm an active pup who is ready for my forever playmates! Get out your water hose-I can't wait to show you my Olympic-style jumps!

Think you might be Lily's forever family? If so, fill out an adoption application! Questions? Please email placement@thestreetdogproject.org

More about this rescue

The Street Dog Project is comprised of a small group of volunteers who are passionate about saving street dogs in Dallas, TX. The majority of our team was previously heavily involved at another local street dog rescue but left for various reasons over the years. We wanted to save more lives so "got the band back together". We are an experienced team of rescuers, operating under a new name.

We have a lot of experience capturing elusive street dogs and helping them adjust to life in a loving home.

The dogs are taken to the vet upon rescue so they can be examined, dewormed, vaccinated, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested (and treated if positive) and attend to any other medical needs. Life on the streets is tough so a lot of the dogs we take in have beyond basic medical needs. Heartworm, mange, leg and eye injuries are some of the most common medical conditions we encounter.
We are an all-volunteer organization and rely on donations to save lives. Donations can be made by clicking the "donate now" button on our Facebook page or visiting www.thestreetdogproject.org. Thanks for your support!
