My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maverick is a 3 year old AKC registered male who, along with his brother Colonel, has been chained outside. They found themselves in jail when they kept getting loose and chasing cats, and a volunteer with the shelter contacted us to give them a second chance.



Maverick is a very intelligent, regal looking guy with a zest for life. He is good with females, but is very picky about male companions. Obviously cats are a no-no.



Having lived outside on a chain, Maverick does not have very good house manners at present. He is very eager to please though, so he will catch on in no time! He has already learned to go into his crate at night and sleep there quietly.



Maverick is utd on routine vaccinations, flea/tick prevention and heartworm prevention. He is already neutered and is microchipped. He tested positive for Ehrlichia at his post-rescue vet visit, and is curently being treated for it. He should have a clean bill of health in about 3 weeks.

Maverick must go to an indoor home where he will be an important part of the family. We do not adopt to anyone under the age of 21. Our adoption fee is $250.

Note: Mid-South Shepherd Rescue is a no-kill, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We do not have a shelter location. Our dogs are kept in foster homes as part of a family, to help prepare them for transition into their forever homes.
