My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Colonel is a 3 year old AKC registered male who, along with his brother Maverick, has been chained outside. They found themselves in jail when they kept getting loose and chasing cats, and a volunteer with the shelter contacted us to give them a second chance.

Colonel is a very intelligent, regal looking guy with a zest for life. He is currently very thin at 86 pounds, and will easily reach 100+ once he gains the weight he needs to. He is good with females, but is very picky about male companions. Obviously cats are a no-no.

Having lived outside on a chain, Colonel does not have very good house manners at present. He is very eager to please though, so he will catch on in no time! He has already learned to go into his crate at night and sleep there quietly.

Colonel is utd on routine vaccinations and flea/tick prevention. He is already neutered and is microchipped. Unfortunately, he did test positive for heartworm diease at his post-rescue vet visit. He began treatment immediately, and should have a clean bill of health in 6-8 weeks.

Please Click Here to fill out an application. This is the first step in our adoption process. No adoption will be considered or discussed until this has been completed and received.

Colonel must go to an indoor home where he will be an important part of the family. We do not adopt to anyone under the age of 21. Our adoption fee is $250.

Note: Mid-South Shepherd Rescue is a no-kill, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We do not have a shelter location. Our dogs are kept in foster homes as part of a family, to help prepare them for transition into their forever homes. If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, please contact us by clicking on the email address to your right. We will be glad to make arrangements for a meeting.
