Nikko is a sweet, loving Treeing Walker Coonhound who we rescued 5 years ago after being abandoned as a puppy and on his own for the first year of his life. He's crate trained ( actually puts himself to bed in his crate when he's tired at night!) and house-trained. If he has to go outside of his normal schedule, Nikko excels as placing his head in your lap and laying on the puppy eyes.
Nikko has been a sweet, smart and funny companion for our 10-year-old. When they chase each other around, Nikko loves to "hide" behind trees, thinking we can't see him, and learn new tricks when treats are involved. At 45 pounds, he sometimes thinks he's a lap dog and loves to snuggle. If you have a hoodie with a front pocket, he'll put his nose in the pocket and go right to sleep.
We love this good boy but have made the tough decision to regime Nikko, as he is not thriving here. We have noticed he has some triggers ( anxious and overstimulated) specific to certain situations in our very crowded neighborhood that I would love to speak with you about over the phone. He absolutely thrives in rural settings, and we would love to find a home that has that for him where he can have a large space to run and be active.
~Adoption donation $ . All vetting is up to date. Microchipped and neutered. Also on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Visit www.ruffloverescue.com/adoption and fill out an application to make this pup a member of your family
