Here's what the humans have to say about me:
FOSTERED IN: Oak Forest, IL 60452
ESTIMATED DOB: 2012
WEIGHT: 13 lbs
KIDS: Older
DOGS: Yes
CATS: Yes
HISTORY:
Miss Mary came to us when her owner passed away and the family could not care for her. She was a cherished family pet and her family wanted what was best for her.
ABOUT:
Miss Mary is very sweet and is a “love at first sniff” type of girl. All she needs is a nice sniff of someone new and she is ready to be their best friend. She is happy being held on your lap and will lean into you for pets. Miss Mary is also very well behaved out in public and rides nicely in the car. Miss Mary is very calm and quiet at home. Here is a great line from Miss Mary’s foster: “Miss Mary is a lovely dog who will make a perfect companion to someone wanting a calm dog who loves pets and scratches.”
Miss Mary is completely blind as she has previously had both eyes removed. She has likely been this way for a while as she comfortably navigates the yard and home. Miss Mary would need to be protected from any stairs she could accidentally fall down, and would likely do best if she is carried on any stairs (like in and out of an apartment). Miss Mary seems used to having a yard as she stays in the grass and will stop and turn around if she hits the sidewalk. Because she is blind her foster does not often walk her on leash. Miss Mary sleeps on a dog bed at night so she does not accidentally fall off while her foster is sleeping.
Miss Mary is not being fostered with children, but she can easily be startled, she will do best in predictable homes with older children. Miss Mary is being fostered with a cat, and the only interest she shows are a few extra sniffs when the cat comes near. Miss Mary is being fostered with another dog, and gets along very fine. She will do best with calmer dogs where she won’t constantly get bumped and thrown off her path.
Miss Mary doesn’t potty in the house if she is taken out often enough, but her foster works during the day so she is provided potty pads that she will use.
