Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Birdie came into rescue with her four sisters and one brother. One of her sisters, Tippy, and her brother, McGruff, were vetted on the same day as Birdie. Her other sisters will be vetted in the coming weeks. They are approx 11 weeks old (estimated DOB: 9/26/23)and are very happy little pups. The pups came into rescue as strays. Their mom is a hound that is semi-feral and has lived a nomadic lifestyle in a local community (she is a neighborhood dog). Mom had the pups under a shed and the community did their best to care for mom and pups. Since mom is feral enough not to trust humans much and saavy as to the ways of the world, we have been working on catching her but so far, have been unsuccessful with our efforts. We managed to get the pups before something happened to them or they also developed feral tendencies and are hoping they all find safe, warm loving homes. One day, we also hope to catch mom and find her the same. We do not have a clue what breed dad was but the pups strongly resemble their hound dog mom. We think they will be a medium sized dog when full grown as their mom is. Since they are young pups, they will fit easily into any home environment but as with any dog, ensure proper socialization and introductions into your home. They will need to be housebroken and trained as most pups do. They have never been on a leash but can learn that quickly. They are blank slates basically so they should do fine with kids, other dogs and cats. They would love to find their forever family and start getting spoiled rotten!
Birdie saw the vet on 12/13/23. She was found to have no issues on her health exam. She did test positive for hookworms and roundworms so we have treated her with Drontal. She may need a follow up dewormer in 3 weeks. She is currently too young for a heartworm test but she has been started on Simparica Trio for heartworm prevention and flea control. She weighed 11.3 pounds as of 12/13/23.
If interested in giving Birdie her forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Birdie's adoption fee will be $200 to help cover the cost of her vetting and daily care while with us.
