Polly Pocket is thee cutest 1.5 year old mini, weighing in at 35lbs. She was DNA tested by Embark, and her mixture is Staffordshire Terrier and Bulldog, hence why she’s so small! She came into the shelter as a stray, with no chip or collar and no one ever came for her. She was getting overlooked and started to develop a URI which put her on the euthanasia list. One of our long time fosters spotted Polly while at the shelter and said she was the cutest, most quiet dog, incessantly wagging her tail. She knew she couldn’t leave Polly behind!
That same foster who rescued her has been her foster mom. This is her loving description of Polly:
Polly is the most charming girl with the best personality and so much love to give. She is obsessed with all humans she meets - men, women, children, anyone! She gets so excited and wiggles so much when she gets your attention, along with endless kisses and cuddles.
Sweet Polly needed a lot of work after coming of the shelter and hadn’t ever walked on a leash. She has the deepest eagerness to learn and please her humans. Polly is now completely potty trained, leash trained, crate trained (though she prefers to sleep with her humans in bed) and knows her basic commands. She will learn anything quickly if it means making you happy and getting treats!
It was also very clear Polly had lived on the streets for sometime as she was slick at digging in the trash, can eat anything and was/is very scared of most dogs, especially big energy dogs. She fell in love with her very calm, loving foster brother Freddie and played with him most hours of the day with so much joy (who recently and very suddenly passed away — she is so sad and misses him so much). The dream is that Polly has a bigger, very calm and tolerant dog like him, but with enough people in the home to adore her, she might also enjoy being an only pup.
She is it very quick, athletic and energetic dog — jokingly nicknamed “parkour pup” or a circus dog has she spins and twirls as she jumps off walls and corners of furniture while running around. She can even climb trees! She could easily have a career in agility and will do great in a home with a backyard to run off that energy.
Lastly, she is an excellent alert dog to suspicious characters but otherwise doesn’t bark much. She loves chewing on her toys and will do anything to play tugowar with you. As much as she loves playing, she also loves to cuddle and nap with her humans. This girl loves nothing more than sitting in front of a space heater on a cold night and getting as hot as possible while nodding off, while sitting up.
She has met cats and is indifferent to them. She cannot contain herself when she sees children and wants to greet and lick them but because of her very high energy, jumpy nature, we don’t think she should be with any kids younger than 12. We are requiring a family or individual who has lots of time to give her, will create a wonderful, consistent structure and give her all the love and attention.

We are very strict about our adoption process. No pet goes into a home without meeting the whole family and a home check in person or vie-facetime. Each pet must be spay/neutered before going into a home. If it's a puppy, a follow-up Vet visit is required before 6 months of age to have the animal sterilized.
