Here's what the humans have to say about me:
In Winhall - Hi! I am Sky, originally from Tennessee, but I am being fostered in Vermont. I am 2 yrs old, about 45lbs, and have all my required vaccines. I know that I am a beautiful girl, but I will need someone with patience and the willingness to take the time to show me I am safe and loved. My first couple years of life were as a puppy mill mama, and I had multiple litters, and lived in a kennel day and night.
When I was rescued by ASF I went to live with my foster family in Vermont, and surprised them with one more litter. Yep, I gave birth to seven adorable puppies that have all been adopted. However, once I had my puppies I became very reactive to strangers coming into the home, and even bit one of them. It's hard for me to trust with all I hae been through. My fosters are doing their best to work with me, and to show me that not all people are bad, but I will need continued training with my new forever family.
I was spayed the first week of December, and was boarded at the vets while my fosters were away. The vet said I was a good girl, and showed no aggression, but I was very scared. I LOVE my 3 foster siblings and really enjoy playing with them, so would do best in a home with another dog. I also have learned a lot from them, like walking on a leash (in a pack of 4!), how to sit for treats and how to ring the bell to go outside. The last one I sometimes forget and have an occasional accident but I am usually really good about it. I like to warn my family when someone is at the door or there is an animal in the woods, so I bark quite a bit. We've been working on it and I'm getting better! Because of my history of reactivity and biting strangers (this only started when I had puppies) no kids please.
I really like this 'living indoors' life and like to lay on my bed and rest after my walks and playtime. I am an expert counter surfer, but I listen to redirection. I also have learned that love is amazing and I want a family who has lots for me. I will require a meet and greet to be sure we are a good fit, but if you have patience and love I will be an amazing companion.
If you think I sound perfect for you, please fill out the application. There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to my new family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.
