My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Step into the world of Chance – a heartwarming soul ready to weave his way into the fabric of your life!

Chance is an adorable fur friend with a cautious curiosity, occasionally feeling a bit nervous around new people and unfamiliar surroundings. Fear not, for with a touch of positive reinforcement and tender care, Chance effortlessly redirects his attention with the sweet symphony of kisses, the call of his name, or a few peppy steps – showcasing his quick learning abilities and making every walk a joyous experience. He already knows sit and down by trading these commands for treats, which is definitely a testament to his sharp mind.

As you stroll side by side with Chance, you can`t help but be enchanted by his charming trot, complete with irresistibly floppy front paws. It`s a visual delight that adds a touch of whimsy to your shared adventures.
While initial excitement may accompany pets, giving chance the time to warm up to you will let you see a transformed pup delightfully and snuggly. He revels in soft, slower pets and embraces the joy of shared moments. Toys hold a special place in Chance`s heart, serving as a conduit for his playful spirit and eagerness for interaction.

Enrichment is the secret to this young pup`s happiness – he adores the snuffle mat and thrives on the challenge of solving puzzles. Chance is a true sponge for love, learning, and new experiences, embodying the spirit of a baby at heart.

Our hope is that Chance won`t spend much more of his adolescence in the shelter; he`s yearning for friends and a loving and patient forever home to share his days with. If you`re ready to welcome a sweet, sensitive, and playful companion into your heart, Chance eagerly awaits the chance to embark on a lifetime of love and adventures with you. Adopt Chance today and become part of the magical journey of bringing joy to this charming little soul!

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
