Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hugo is STILL looking for an immediate foster or forever home. He is our longest resident and has waited over a YEAR for someone to pick him. Hugo was born on 8/7/20 and is a mixed breed. He is a happy and big boy that is looking for a family without children or other pets. His ideal home would also preferably not have men. He is ok with brief interactions but men typically stress him out. We want to set Hugo up for success and avoid anything that could get him returned. Going on adventures is one of his favorite things—long walks, car rides, adoption events, and exploring new places make him the happiest. He does well on a leash and is a very smart boy. He is up to date on all of his vaccinations and has been neutered. Please consider giving this guy a chance. He needs a hero and he really needs it soon.
*PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO STRINGENT OUT OF STATE HEALTH CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS WE ARE NOW ONLY ADOPTING TO RHODE ISLAND RESIDENTS*. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Unfortunately, due to past issues with landlords/housing/insurance, a restricted breed policy is in place for Bully breed/Pit Bull type dogs. This means that you must own your home and provide proof of homeownership to adopt a Bully breed/Pit Bull dog or puppy. While we understand that this may be an inconvenience, it is necessary to help reduce the number of devastated dogs being returned. We apologize for the inconvenience.
HOW TO GO ABOUT ADOPTING:
1. Come in during adoption hours to apply and full out an application completely. We have applications on site. Open adoption hours take place at 44 Worthington Road in Cranston, RI. We are open every Wednesday 3-7pm and Saturday 10am-2pm.
2. We require proof of homeownership (tax form, deed, mortgage statement) or landlord approval (a copy of your lease that clearly states you are allowed to have a dog, puppy, cat, or kitten OR written and signed consent from your landlord.
3. We require copies of up to date vet records for any current pets.
Helpful reminders:
*We do not do same day adoptions.
*Please bring the entire family in to meet the animal you are interested in.
*We will setup a meet and greet with your dog at a later date. PLEASE do not bring your dog with you when you come in to apply.
