My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

“Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever.”

COURTESY POST

Meet Molly Parton 8yo, 45 pounds

Can you help to change Molly’s story?

Molly was an abused and neglected dog for 8 years! Along with 21 other dogs, she was found chained to a barrel. The barrel was her home and all she knew. She was forcibly bred. Her abuser was caught, found guilty and jailed. Molly Parton is her new name for a fresh new start that she needs.

Kind people adopted her, but after 3 months, Molly was attacked by an incumbent dog living in the household. Dog relationships are like human ones- they can be complicated. Her adoptive family is devastated but realize the only safe thing to do is to rehome her.

Her personality: timid, but very sweet. Not an aggressive bone in her body after all she has been through. Extremely shy around everyone and everything. If she could just disappear and become invisible in a room, she would.

Molly can thrive with love, patience, kindness, a walk or two a day, a warm bed to sleep in. No expectations of being a “life of the party” girl. That’s not her. No expectations of being everyone’s BFF. That’s not her. She’ll probably go hide if company comes around, at least in the beginning. Dogs can heal and do amazingly well given time and caring people. if you just want a dog to love and know you made a true difference for? That’s Molly. She needs a soft place to land. She would love to be spoiled all on her own. She deserves it.

Ideal home: open to different possibilities, but she needs anyone with a calm household with people who just want to love a dog who is frightened of the world because of what she has been through. Single dog household preferred. Not cat tested.

When she knows you? She will love you and give you back much more than she ever required.

Medically: healing from wounds after her attack. Dry skin- treated with Benadryl prn. Otherwise, a healthy pup and is up to date on vaccines and preventatives. Spayed. Microchipped.

***Disclaimer*** Unfortunately, there are not enough rooms at the inn to admit every dog that needs a furever home. But, we still want to help those dogs (and cats) on their journey! By courtesy posting, AAHA is offering our website/network as an additional resource to help an owner or shelter gain additional exposure for the dog they are trying to place. AAHA has not met nor evaluated the dog (or cat) we are courtesy posting. AAHA makes no representation about courtesy posted pets including the health and temperament and accepts no liability in this exchange. Arrangements for adoptions are made between the caretaker of the pet and the potential adopter.

More about this rescue

Adopt a Homeless Animal Rescue (AAHA) is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and assisting animals in crisis. We actively combat animal cruelty in any form.

We have a particular commitment to pit bulls and aim to raise awareness about the breed, help those in need, and educate the public:
•We seek to promote this lovely yet unfairly maligned breed as the sweet, intelligent, affectionate, and people-oriented dogs they are.
•We assume stewardship over their well-being and strive to make this world a better place for them.
•We serve as a resource and/or liaison for shelters, individuals, and the community at large, advocating for any animal in harm's way.
•We also function in an advisory role for private citizens who seek assistance and guidance in better caring for their pets.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Please help us help the animals!
