My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jilly is a sweet girl who loves attention, though seldom asks for it anymore. When she first arrived at the shelter she was the first cat to greet people- running up for attention- but as time passed- she became more withdrawn. However, as soon as you touch her, her big, bright personality comes back and this sweet girl will be itching for attention, flopping on her side with those big golden eyes looking up at you adoringly. You can meet her in the Teal adoption room with other FIV positive cats. * (see description below). Jilly is nervous in the adoption room and she spends most of her time on the shelves, avoiding the floor and the other cats. She has a big personality, and is unafraid to boss other cats around- and might be too much for mellower or shyer cats. Jilly can also be bossy with people, if someone touches her in a way she doesn’t like- she will tell you with a gentle touch of her teeth or putting her claws on you. She doesn’t do this to be mean, she just does it to tell people how to properly touch her. She would be best in a quiet home, with calm consistent love from adults - people who will respect her boundaries.

**Like the other cats in the Teal Room, Jilly has tested positive for an immune system virus called FIV. She isn’t sick and he can live a long and healthy life, but with a reduced immune system-it is essential that she never live outside. Testing positive for FIV does not mean the cat is sick - their immune system is reduced. FIV is transmitted only from cat to cat through blood, and cats who are positive can have long and healthy lives just like any other cat. Having a reduced immune system makes it vitally important that these cats never go outside. If an FIV positive cat were to get a cat “cold”, adopters should consult with their vet, just in case they need an antibiotic to make sure their cold doesn’t become something more serious.
