Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue is a registered 501(c)3

***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thank You for your cooperation***
Please read listings fully to the end before applying for one of our beloved rescues.
WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS.
Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog.
We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes in WA state, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA.
Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, or cash. We no longer accept PayPal because of the percentage they take & their fees but if the potential adopter wants to pay the fees we will accept PayPal.
The call was put out for the need from several commercial breeders who needed some of their dogs gone, at a cost of course in the middle of Omaha. Of course they always want money for the dogs & of course once we know about them we are not leaving them & do what we have to do to help them. But despite where they lived & had been used for 6 years straight as breeding machines & were used to make money off their backs, they were all the most precious bundles of joy. The girls lives was instantly changing in that moment & only for the better. They were one of the very lucky ones. On this day we rescued a total of 11 lives including Frankie & Fiona.
What’s shocking & truly is a first for us is these girls had just been spayed. How we don’t know because when we got Frankie her spay was clearly infected & was oozing puss & needed medical treatment & antibiotics which of course we took care of. But the girls were just so lovely still.
Now the real healing, love & devotion could begin & show Frankie & Fiona how they are supposed to be loved & adored in a loving forever home just as they are in their foster home.
Frankie & Fiona & their friends were bought back to the WA state where they are now so happy to be here & can’t wait to find their new loving devoted forever home together.
These 2 beautiful girls from the get go were so extremely sweet & so forgiving of humans. Wow have they come along way. They both arrived freshly shaved down to the skin but now their fur has started to grown back in beautifully. On Frankie she has a patch where perhaps she had a hot spot or & infection that was never treated & has a bit of a patch there but in time should grow in. They both now love a Christmas jumper, spend their days with a beautiful family who have been teaching them what it is to be loved & held. At the end of the day they are both happy for you to pick them up & give them love & stay in your lap or to be playing. They have been so great with very respectful children in their foster home.
These girls are very bonded & we would never e er separate them. They will look for each other & are so joyous once they know where the other one is.
Frankie & Fiona both foster mums said are so affectionate & jumps at you to pick them up & give you love & kisses & hugs. The reality is, the foster homes are their real first experience at being in a home, with a tv, bedding they can snuggle up in, a roof over their head that’s not outside.
Both girls are wonderful eaters & not shy about eating. They are eating a diet clean in their foster home, meaning they ate grains, fruits & vegetables & many healthy proteins along with supplements.
The girls are so good with their baths & being dried by the hairdryer & very tolerant.
They both adore comfy beds & big comfy blankets because again the reality is, this is something they did not get to experience ever in 6 years until we rescued them. Both girls have loved everyone they have met.
They both have been taught to walk on a harness & leash.
Frankie & Fiona both ride in the car well & considering the only times we know of was when they went to be dropped off with the breeder & when we got them & going home with their foster families & to & from the vets. It’s still all new to them though. We are looking for a crate free home for these ladies only. Frankie & Fiona as you can imagine spent the first part of their lives in a caged environment. So we are looking for a cage free home only. We are also looking for a forever home for Frankie & Fiona where someone is home during the day or they can go with their people wherever possibly they can go with them. When they find someone who treats them as they should be treated & loves them they get so attached to them.
Frankie & Fiona are looking for a forever home who will cherish them & love them as they should be loved & be patient with them & never give up on them.
UPDATE: Frankie & Fiona were adopted & returned & we were given a reason regarding Frankie’s foot. We have them both back in a loving foster home where they are back on homemade food & thriving & we are getting Frankie weekly laser treatment on her foot. These girls are the nicest sweetest girls. Frankie is on cage rest while getting her laser treatments.
Frankie & Fiona have been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes in the rescue & in their foster homes & they are currently with other dogs & adores other dogs. So they can go to a forever home with other dogs in the home or just the pair of them together. We will not separate the girls so please do not use ask us too. A fully fenced backyard is mandatory if living in a home.
Frankie & Fiona are roughly 15.6 lbs & 11.6 lbs & 6 years old & miniture poodles. What they are mixed with we are not sure, female, they are both spayed, microchipped, received all their shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, rabies. Frankie has a heart murmur. They both had dental scale & polish’s & Frankie had 3 premolars & 2 incisors removed. The breeder spayed her & she arrived with her spay oozing puss & needed antibiotics.
Fiona had 1 premolar, 1 incisor & 1 intermediate removed.
While in the care of a foster home, who they are no longer with. Frankie’s toes were broken on 1 foot, her front foot. How, we truly will never know? We have had Frankie in a splint while her toes are healing & 1 has completely healed & we are waiting on the remaining 3 to heal. Doing 2 laser treatments every single week for 4 weeks Frankie’s bone is now healed. You would never know this happened except a slight limp sometimes & she will randomly hold it up. But again you would never know this happened to her. We also got her acupuncture to help heal her foot.
We have spent far more on Frankie & Fiona with getting them from a commercial breeder. Bringing them to WA with their travel costs, their transportation to WA. All of their medical care in WA etc & bringing them to WA than their adoption fee comes close to covering. Their adoption fee does not even cover half of what we have spent on Frankie & Fiona.
The girls have not been around cats since being in the rescue, but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have had them around small children & they have done well but we do do not recommend small children nor cats though & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & cats.
We were not there when Frankie & Fiona were conceived so we do not know who their parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think their breed is.
As with all of our rescues & the girls friends they will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Frankie & Fiona potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond.
We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying.
Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting the girls & going through our process and have read their listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on. Or you waste this rescues time, will remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit via WebEx or Zoom due to covid & followed by a meet & greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Frankie & Fiona who understands their needs & that meet all the requirements for these special sweet little ladies.
Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately.
Frankie & Fiona has a combined adoption fee of $1600 & is ready for her truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what she has been through.
