Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet mountain girl Maggie. She was rescued from a shelter in the rural mountains of NC. Miss Maggie's genetics are unknown and most likely mixed. Her soft, medium coat, markings and developing mane speak to possible Border Collie lineage. Other possible breeds in her background are also up for grabs. Her cute stocky build, small size, pointed dropped ears and high set tail could be indications of a small terrier and/or small hound. Who knows? One thing we do know... whatever genes are circulating in this cutie, they combined to produce a beautiful, sweetheart of a pup with a very nice temperament.
Maggie looks like she will be medium size when full grown, as she is currently 16 pounds at her estimated age of 4 months. Plus she has dainty girl feet.
This little nugget's personality is evolving by the day as she comes out of her shell. The most intriguing trait being her amazing eye contact and desire for direction. She is very intelligent, observant, easily trainable, and a lot of fun. Mountain Maggie loves attention, hugs and snuggles, sitting on her mom's lap or next to her on the recliner, play time and belly rubs. And, she's a wiggly, squiggly ball of energy after a good nights sleep. Maggie can be a bit shy with new people, but her comfort bubble is improving with increased social interactions and lots of positive reinforcement. Her foster mom will be looking for someone willing to continue building Maggie's confidence.
Maggie has been busy exploring her new world and building her confidence; but, she still likes coming back to her safe places - cuddled up on her foster mom's lap, or curled up by her feet, or resting in her crate. This little cling-on has already illustrated her dog-friendly personality. She is comfortable living with two dogs and a blind cat; and, she spent Thanksgiving day with five adult Border Collies of varying ages and quirky personalities. She interacted appropriately and positively with all.
Maggie has taken to playing with toys and has a bright future for games of fetch and tugging. She is crate and house trained, and food and toy motivated. She is very comfortable spending time with the other resident dogs on the family's screened porch and in their fenced yard. And, she is all about sleeping in her crate at night. Maggie is ready for her new forever home. She is currently estimated to be 12 -16 weeks. Maggie is up-to-date on age appropriate puppy vaccines, microchipped, dewormed and on heartworm and flea prevention. She will be adopted with a spay contract.
Maggie is being fostered near Chocowinity, NC by the Atlantic Region Central Border Collie Rescue.
