My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Little Miss Ryder has had a bit of a tough go lately. Sadly, her owner of seven years had to surrender her earlier this spring, and then her recent owner unexpectedly passed away. Despite all this, she is a happy little girl looking for love!

Ryder will be 8 this spring. She does well with cats and respectful children, is wary of big dogs at first, but will warm up to them if they are calm and friendly. Ryder is pad trained, but her foster has noticed that she seems to prefer going to the bathroom outside, so it likely won’t take too much work to get her house trained if her adopter is consistent about it. She is tiny and gets cold quickly when she goes outside, so she needs her sweaters.

She is very sweet, but shows her chihuahua energy when it comes to needed maintenance tasks, like cleaning her face and trimming her nails, and will bare her teeth, but that’s about it. She has been a picky eater in her foster home, so far mostly preferring wet food.

We think Ryder would do best in a calm home, with a person who will let her snuggle up next to them on the couch, bed, or wherever they might be sitting, as she wants to be next to her person. She will also burrow into blankets when given the opportunity. She can jump quite high to get up to the best cuddle spot.

Ryder has a lot of love to give, and will bring her next person a lot of joy.
