Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Adoptable
Thora, Female, 3yrs, American Bulldog/ Presa Canario, 85lbs
*** in home breed type experience only ***
*** special dietary/ supplement needs ***
Thora is an amazing girl and will make someone a loyal and loving companion.
Thora had trouble adapting to her original home and had been turned over to rescue in 2020. After much structure based work, she has turned into an exceptional dog. She is crate trained and thrives in pleasing her humans and has been doing very well in her basic obedience.
Thora has an extremely sensitive stomach and requires specific food and supplements to keep her balanced. She is crate trained and has decent house manners.
With proper introductions, Thora is good with other dogs, cats and older kids.
Note: Though Thora loves to run, play and swim, she is a bit limited. When the previous owners attempted to re-home her, there had been cohabitation issues with another dog in the home. During an altercation Thora's front leg had been pretty tore up and she now has extensive scaring on one of her joints, that can cause her some discomfort/ limping. Though this doesn't slow her down, long hikes and runs would not be an option.
Thora is a local Saint Louis, Mo area adoption.
Her adoption fee is $250, she is up to date and fully vetted.
Interested adopters need to submit an application through our website, steppingstonebully.org to be considered.

• All of our dogs are in separate foster homes; therefore it is not possible to come visit them all at once.
• You must be 21 years of age to adopt
• An adoption application must first be completed on our website before we will contact you about the possible adoption of any dog. If the adoption application is not completed in its entirety it will not be approved and no contact will be made.
• All general questions will be responded to via email
• Please understand that all our representatives are volunteers and may not be able to get in touch with you immediately. Please allow up to five days for us to get in contact with you. Emails and phone calls will only slow down the adoption process. To speed up the adoption process please contact your Veterinarian and give them permission to release information to us.
o All dogs and cats in the home must be spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations and have annual visits at their Veterinarian.
• After initial approval of your application a representative will contact you for a phone interview.
• After the phone interview we will schedule a home visit. Please note it is not always possible to bring the dog with on a home visit.
o A home visit is required of all adoptions.
o During the home visit all people residing at the residence must be present.
o You must allow the representative into all areas of the property. This includes all bedrooms, the basement and any outdoor buildings. If there are any areas our representative are not allowed access to the application will be denied.
• After the home visit and application have been approved, we will make an appointment for you to meet the dog you would like to adopt. If all goes well we will then complete the adoption process.
• We DO NOT transport our dogs. Our animals are local to the Saint Louis metro area only adoptions, unless otherwise noted.
o In circumstances that we have to travel more than 50 miles to perform a home visit a fee may be assessed
Everything we do is in the best interest of our dogs; they are our number one priority. There will be no exceptions to our adoption guidelines. We will only adopt a dog to a home that is a good fit for that dog. So please understand we may not approve your application for one dog, but may approve it for another.
We reserve the right to deny any application at any point in the adoption process.
The adoption fees for each dog can vary and is based on the accumulated expenses (Vet bills, shelter fees, pull fees) and a nominal adoption fee to cover our administrative expenses.
