Animal Profile: Ames is an approximately 18 month old, 40 lb neutered cattle dog mix that joined us from New Mexico on 12/4/23. He was surrendered by a finder who held him temporarily and reported he was good with dogs.
Foster Update: While shy at first, Ames, or Sparky as he is known in his foster home, is an incredibly loyal pup who loves to play tug and fetch when he’s not snoozing the day away. This handsome boy has a playful yet gentle demeanor. He is crate and house trained and loves his toys! He will play on his own if you're not available by throwing his toys in the air and catching them. Ames is highly intelligent and really thrives with structure, training, and most importantly play! He is happiest when rough housing with another dog. He can play for hours and will do best in a home with another playful dog his size or larger. He is food motivated and a fast learner, picking up on commands like sit, lie down, touch, spin, and shake. Ames will do best in a quiet home, with adopters who are able to provide strong leadership and continue to help build his confidence.
Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.
