Here's what the humans have to say about me:
**ABE HAS BEEN ADOPTED!** Sweet, soulful puppy dog eyes, long, soft, velvety ears, and striking red coat combine with a charming, gentle, mild-mannered, and easy-going personality to make one perfect pup! These are just a few characteristics of one of our newest rescues, Abe, an incredible adult male Redbone Coonhound available for adoption. He is estimated to be between 3 and 5 years of age and is a thin 55 pounds. An ideal weight for this guy is closer to 65 pounds or so. Abe was rescued from a backyard breeder in Kentucky with multiple other adult Redbone hounds and two litters of puppies when proper care was not being provided for them. It's no secret that we love our hounds here at Pal's Place, so when we saw this beauty in need, we knew we had to help. A less-than-ideal start in life has not hampered this boy's spirit, and the friendly, active, affectionate, goofy, and sometimes downright derpy personality Redbones are known for still shines through in our resilient Abe. He is currently in a foster home in Chicago, learning all about the comforts of home living and taking in the new sights, sounds, and stimulation of big-city living in stride. He's being fostered with several other dogs and enjoys the company of his new canine friends. Hounds are very social dogs and tend to do best in homes with company from other dogs and/or where their people are home more often than not. Abe is loving his new life as a pampered house pet and quickly discovered the comforts of the couch. He loves napping in sunlight, walks around the neighborhood, cuddling under blankets, and chewing on Nylabones. Abe is a fantastic mix of energy; he will walk/run/play for as long as you'd like him to or engage with him, but he's also content hanging out, napping, and observing the world around him. He's well-behaved in the home, crate trained, and does very well with his housebreaking when kept on a regular schedule. Given his background, he had little to no training before his rescue, so a home that can commit to basic training and manners work will be ideal for him. He's very food-motivated, attentive, and intelligent, so we think teaching this guy the basics will be a breeze.
Abe is vaccinated, microchipped, and will be neutered before placement. His adoption fee to the rescue is $375. Abe is in a foster home and can be seen by appointment only after an application has been received and approved. For more info or an application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit palsplacerescue.org. Unfortunately, we cannot place holds on our dogs for any reason. Please do not submit an adoption application unless you are ready to meet and welcome a dog into your home within three days of applying. Adoption applications and correspondence from the rescue may end up in your spam or junk folder. If you are waiting for our reply, please check those folders regularly, and if it has been 48 hours without a reply, please follow up with an email to ensure your application was received.
• Abe's adoption fee is $375. This fee helps to cover any necessary medical care to prepare him for adoption. Pal's Place relies solely on adoption fees and donations to care for the animals in our rescue. Your donation also helps save other dogs like Abe from euthanasia.
• Please email Palsplace1@hotmail.com for an adoption application and put the dog's name in the subject line. Please check your spam/junk folder; sometimes, the applications end up there! We are a volunteer-run organization and do our best to respond to all inquiries within 24-48 hours.
• All of our dogs are in foster homes and can be seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an approved application has been received. To receive more info, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com.
