Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bear is about 1 year old and he is a real teddy Bear! We believe he is a Shih Tzu/Cavalier mix and weighs 14 lbs. Bear is still very much a puppy and is active, playful and still has puppy nippy/ankle biting behavior. His new home will need to continue working with training for him.
He loves cuddles, being held, sitting on your lap and sleeping in your bed at night. He is always ready to play and is a pro at playing fetch! Likes all his toys especially if they make some noise, but will not pass on a ball or a good chew. He will come to you and ask for your attention sometimes definitely trying to tell you something. He is very curious and follows his foster mom around the house constantly. He doesn’t like to miss anything. Bear is house trained and learning new commands (sit, shake, wait). He is very friendly with people/ kids, but might act with reserve at the beginning. He warms up once he gets to know you.
Bear would definitely enjoy a fenced yard where he could run his zoomies or play fetch. He is not sure yet that some other dogs might be fun, so he barks at them when meeting one on his walk or seeing one out the window or through the fence. He is not a fan of getting close to other dogs. But Bear really enjoys going for walks and observing his surroundings. He is still learning and will need patience, time and slow introductions to other dogs.
Local adoptions only. We do not adopt out of the state of Illinois. Bear is being fostered in a private home. Appointments to visit him will be set up for approved adopters only. His adoption fee is $350 which includes all age appropriate vaccines. He is neutered and microchipped. He is also up-to-date on all vaccinations and preventatives as well as Heartworm negative. Please visit our website and fill out an application if you are interested. http://newstartdogrescue.org
