Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Josie!
Down the street from our house, we stumbled upon little Josie, living in the wheel well of a jeep parked on the side of the road.
I didn’t actually see her at first, I could just hear her. I was feeding cats, and thought a little dog on the other side of a fence was growling at me. Josie blended in so well with the pavement!
I noticed a food bowl and water under the jeep, and then spotted little Josie, and watched her hop up into the wheel well, like a tree elf, going home to his hiding spot.
I knocked on my neighbors door, thinking maybe this was his dog? He said she had been out there all week, and that he felt bad for her so he left food and water out. He said he couldn’t get close to her, but she always scarfed down the food he left out.
The street she was on, is a common spot for dogs to get dumped.
Josie was underweight, had matted hair, no tags, no collar, no chip, she wasn’t spayed, and it was obvious she wasn’t trying to leave that particular spot on that street.
Dogs that have been dumped don’t leave the place they were dropped at. It’s so unbelievably heartbreaking to see how loyal they are up until the very end. They may try to run to chase the car, or sniff around, but ultimately they make their way back to the place they were discarded like trash, and they wait.
Josie is perfection. She is goofy, playful, charming, and is so easy to train and teach! She gets alog great with all dogs, and would love another spunky playful friend to wrestle around with!
She is still very nervous when she meets new people, and needs a few introductions before she is comfortable… but if you can hold out for that and be patient, she is the DREAMIEST little dog you will ever meet!
We do not adopt any of our dogs out to people with young children (under 15), for the safety of our dogs.
If you're interested in learning more about Josie and believe you could provide her with the loving and active home she deserves, please submit an adoption application with the link below.
