My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Forget-Me-Nots are small, sometimes missed, flowers that symbolize true love, loyalty, and remembrance. At the Maryland SPCA, we classify a pet as a Forget-Me-Not to highlight an animal that may have some extra considerations for potential adopters to be aware of. Even though this pet may need a little extra TLC in order to fully bloom, we know they are still a strong candidate for adoption and they're sure to bring true love and loyalty into their new family. We hope you'll remember these beautiful creatures when you consider adopting.

When he's not hiking the trails with enthusiasm, Diesel can be found nestled in your lap or happily playing with his favorite squeaky toys. His zest for life is matched only by his ability to wind down and enjoy some quality cuddle time. Diesel thrives in the company of his people and is always eager to be involved in whatever you're doing. Though he may be a bit reserved around new faces initially, Diesel's friendly nature soon shines through as he warms up quickly. His foster parent described him as a dream to have around, a testament to his loving and adaptable personality. Diesel's history with other dogs shows he's a bit selective about his canine friends, preferring one-on-one interactions to large groups.

Diesel's ability to settle comfortably in a crate means he can handle alone time with ease, giving his future family the flexibility they need. With his perfect balance of active play and cuddly companionship, anyone lucky enough to adopt Diesel is sure to experience a life brimming with joy and unconditional love.

More about this shelter

The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.

To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.

There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.

We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
