My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Approximate Date of Birth: 03/28/2022

Description:

Hi, I’m Gilbert. Are you looking for a friend who can make you laugh and keep your lap warm? I’m your man! Once I get to know you, I’ll snuggle up with you when it’s time to watch TV, especially if the show is about birds - I love watching them. I like toys, though, so when you’re ready to giggle, let’s play!

Words to describe me: Sweet, dynamic, velcro-cat

Favorite place to sleep: Literally anywhere

Favorite toy: Laser pointer, feather on a string wand

Ideal day: No time to myself - playing with humans and animals, early breakfast, lots of snuggles

Likes: all the attention, even from the dog!

Dislikes: Be alone for too long or have late breakfast

Fastest way to get me to purr: Pick me up and let me hang over your arms

Ideal home: Can transition to the new home when or if an owner moves. He's very flexible, moderate activity, but definitely needs lots of attention / doesn't like being alone

Favorite treat: Tuna!

Nickname in foster: Noodle boy

What I want to be when I grow up: your best friend!

  • Good with Cats:  Unknown but optimistic.

  • Good with Dogs:  Yes, given proper introduction.

  • Good with Children:  Unknown but optimistic.

  • Companion Animal: Required if home alone for long periods of time.

Health information: All cats and kittens will be spayed or neutered, FeLV / FIV tested (as indicated by age), receive vaccinations appropriate for age, preventative deworming, and microchipping prior to adoption as appropriate by age.

Gilbert  tested positive for  FeLV  therefore would need to be in a home with other FeLV kitties (or adopt one of the other FeLV kitties in the rescue).  Veterinary care will be provided by Saving One Life throughout Gilbert's life.

Adoption Process:   Our adoptable animals are located at one of our adoption centers or in foster homes. We require interested parties to apply prior to meeting to ensure a good match. Applications can be submitted on our website at  www.savingonelife.org/adopt/apply.

Additional adoption info

We will adopt to out of state adopters but we do NOT ship animals under any conditions. You must come to us in person to meet the animal and make sure it is a mutual match. We have had many adopters come from the states around us and drive or fly with their new family member back.

Some of our "ready to adopt" felines are located at one of our Arizona PetSmart locations. https://www.savingonelife.org/adopt/locations/

We also have a small satellite operation in San Diego with adoption events on select Saturdays at the PetSmart Escondido store.

We highly recommend applying in advance in order to increase your opportunity at adopting the kitty you are interested in. Applications are processed in the order they were received. If you have questions, please email adoptions@savingonelife.org.

More about this rescue

Saving One Life is a completely foster based, volunteer run, never kill rescue. Our motto is that although we can't save the world, it makes a world of difference to the ones we do save.

If you find a litter of kittens or your cat accidentally got pregnant - please contact us if you are able to foster them at intake@savingonelife.org. We cannot take in more animals without foster homes. All supplies and vet care will be taken care of - all you have to do is open your home and heart to them until they can find homes of their own!

All of our adoptable animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested for felv/fiv (Cats), dewormed, and microchipped. Adoption fees range depending on the animal's age and breed. All adoption fees assist other animals in our care - we do not have any paid employees. We are a completely never kill group that provides sanctuary to any "unadoptable" animals that come into our care including hospice care.
