My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Right? Can you EVEN with that sweet look on his face? Buddy Ross is a total nugget; we kind of love him - but yeah, we love them alllll, so there's that.

Through no fault of his own, Buddy comes to DREAM after his previous owner became unable to care for him. He's been loved his whole life, and he has a lot of love to give. He enjoys playing with toys, and gets on well with other dogs. We aren't sure about cats.

Buddy is a people dog, for sure. He loves grownups and kids, and he gets along with his canine foster brothers & sisters. He wants nothing more than to be in your lap, giving you kisses. His soulful eyes will make you feel like he sees and understands everything.

Buddy is an Isabella dachshund (silvery blue fur) and like most Isabellas, he has some hair loss aka alopecia. He has grown some hair since coming to DREAM and being fed quality kibble. He has a section of fur on his neck that looks like a necktie. What a jaunty little guy! He doesn't take medicine for it, but would need sun protection like anyone else if he were exposed to the elements. Buddy Ross is NOT a fan of doggo sweaters but does enjoy snuggling in a bed and under a blanket.

He's accustomed to using wee-pads to do his biznezz, but we're working on getting him used to the idea of fertilizing the grass instead of going inside. He's a champ at wearing belly bands which his foster mom refers to as his “gym shorts”. When he’s wearing his gym shorts he doesn’t wet them so maybe he just loves making a fashion statement?. He is also crate trained.

Buddy loves squeaky toys and bones of all kinds. (He is also a sneaky thief of paper towels and napkins. 😅
The ideal home for Buddy would be someone who wants a constant companion. If you're looking for a friendly, low-key, playful, "your own little shadow" companion look no further than Buddy Ross.

If you are interested in adopting Buddy Ross, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Buddy Ross's adoption fee is $350.

All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Buddy Ross will go to his new home microchipped, neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. We've also given him a dental for sweet kissy breath.

Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia.

Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part.

DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.

More about this rescue

We envision a time when every dachshund in Georgia has a loving home for its entire life. We believe that the welfare of our companion animals is an indication of the health of our society. We see the current welfare of our companion animals as a disease. To treat the symptoms of this disease, we rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dachshunds in need. To treat the causes of this disease, we educate the public on compassionate dog guardianship of any breed. We want to have a deep, direct impact in a limited geographic area, rather than a small impact in a large geographic area.
