THE FOLLOWING CAT IS BEING CARED FOR IN A LOVING MCR FOSTER HOME.
Jasmine is a sweet medium sized gal with lots of love to share. She absolutely adores people and makes friends easily. She has been known to jump up and cuddle into your chest and neck, stretching her front paws around your neck and nuzzling under your chin. She is a lap kitty who doesn't mind being held, though on her terms. She gets an endearing little drool when she purrs. She loves to roll around, rubbing on your feet while you dutifully prepare her dinner. She's also a talker who will greet you with an upbeat welcome and will engage you in full on conversations, especially at meal times. She's not a huge fan of car rides (what cat is?) though she does okay. Interestingly, she doesn't seem to mind going to the vet - she loves exploring new spaces and meeting new people. As much as she loves attention, she's also good with quiet times on her own for a nice afternoon nap. It's actually quite amazing that she's still so trusting and loving, as her previous people failed her big. It appears Jasmine was thrown outside to fend for herself for quite some time. When she suffered a gaping gash on her lower side, she was finally taken for medical help. By that time the poor girl was also emaciated and so flea infested that much of her hair had fallen out. It's clear Jasmine has endured terrible trauma within the last several years. And she does show some scars, both physically and mentally. She resource guards - likely from having to fight for food outdoors amongst other animals. Unfortunately, now she is leary of trusting other cats. Though she does do well with a mild-mannered cat who will allow her to quietly co-exist. She is afraid of feet if they are used to block a doorway or come toward her too swiftly. She sometimes reacts negatively if you move too fast or she misunderstands what's happening. She has been known to nip while reacting in an attack manner, though only briefly with reassurance. Though this has decreased dramatically with love, patience and positive reinforcement. She needs a home that will continue this to help her trust completely and thrive. For these reasons, she needs a child-free home and to either be the only cat or as stated above. Jasmine is what one would call a tree dweller and can usually be found curled up in high places or stretched out on a windowsill. She has excellent litterbox and grooming habits. She accepts a high quality all wet diet readily and enjoys a variety of meat sources. She isn't fussy about food nor litter (again, high quality and natural) - she just seems thankful to be safe, warm and cared for. However, she's not a good water drinker and needs a fountain and HydraCare or broth in addition to her wet food to ensure that she's getting enough hydration. In her older age of 11+ years, she's not super playful, though will join in interactive play for a bit especially if you make the toy fly and involve treats. This is great exercise for her as well as bonding time with the person(s) who will truly love and cherish her furever.
Adoption Fee: $175 which includes spay, full vetting including senior bloodwork panel, combo test (neg/neg), rabies and FVRCP vaccinations, dewormed, flea treatment/preventative. Jasmine also comes with a complimentary microchip registered to Maine Coon Rescue.
