My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dozier is a big sweet boy, loves toys, and dances the samba when you come to see him. He knows sit and stay, AND he’s working on catching toys in the air! This pup is a free spirit and likes to let his paws hang off the porch or under his gate, waiting for attention. Just imagine this boy in sweater weather, with his jaunty little walk! This sweet angel loves to show off his toys while he does a little dance. Dozier knows he’s a real gift. Come prove him right. The first step in our adoption process is an application. Once that is received, we will contact you to make an appointment to meet the animal.

Upon adoption, adopter must agree to a contract which states they will have the animal licensed and vaccinated yearly. All pets will be spayed/neutered and microchipped before adoption. The adopter has 10 days to return the pet for a refund.

*Safe Haven Dogs* “Safe Haven” classification refers to the dogs in our shelter that are of certain breeds and mixes such as American Pit bull Terrier, Staffordshire Terrier, Chow, Dogo Argentino, Rottweiler or Mastiff. We do not limit Safe Haven dogs to just these breeds, but these are some of the most common breeds we see.
In order to ensure the safety of our animals, we require a more extensive adoption process for this group. Some of these breeds are at risk of being used as fighting dog or bait dogs. Sometimes people adopt these breeds for unethical reasons, and not as a family member. This process ensures that these dogs go to homes where they will be loved and cared for as a family member.

More about this shelter

The West Feliciana Animal Humane Society was formed in 2012 in order to assist the WF Parish Sheriff's Office with the abandoned and lost animals of West Feliciana Parish.

Our mission is to provide a safe, healthy, and caring environment for the animals under our care as we search for their original owners or a caring adoptive home for them.
