My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Imagine having to wait for something for a short while, like an Amazon package or a food delivery. It isn't that agonizing a wait. Now imagine having to wait on those things for months, even years at a time. The excitement fades, and it becomes a daunting prospect.

This is the reality for long-term shelter animals like Loki at the Washington County IL Animal Control. Loki, not yet a year old, spends his puppy days in a shelter, wondering why he keeps being overlooked. As the longest-term resident, Loki is puzzled by the lack of attention. The shelter, already at max capacity, offers less-than-optimal interactions with people for Loki. The staff tirelessly works, managing the daily routine of cleaning, feeding, walking, medicating, and responding to stray or abandoned animals. Extended stays in shelters can take a toll on a pet's mental well-being, with loud noises, confusing smells, and limited activity proving mentally draining.

Loki, a sweet puppy who gets along well with other dogs, is seeking a family to love. As we approach a season of full bellies, good friends, and warm hugs, consider extending that warmth to forgotten pups like Loki. Our animal control is stretched to its limit, and we don't want any of these overlooked companions spending the holidays cold and alone.

To ensure Loki's well-being, his new family will play a crucial role in providing essentials like microchipping, neutering, and keeping his vaccinations up-to-date. These extra measures are not included in the adoption fee and must be covered by the adopters upon pickup.

In this season of giving, let's make Loki's wait worthwhile. If you're ready to open your home and heart to a loving pup, contact us today. Let Loki's holiday wish come true — a family to share warmth, love, and joy with.
